Richard W. Simon

Richard Simon Richard W. Simon, age 66, of Plymouth Meeting and formerly of Roxborough, died Saturday, November 6, 2010, in Montgomery Hospital. He was a retired salesman for The Norel Corporation. Mr. Simon was born in Philadelphia the son of the late Elbert W. and the late Jean Peoples Simon Sr. Dick was a former member of Saint Peters Lutheran Church in Lafayette Hill and had been an active volunteer performer as a beed eater for the church's annual Boars Head Festival. He was a graduate of Frankford High School and Moorehead State College. In high school he played football and in college Dick played soccer. Dick served our country during the Vietnam War in the army as a first lieutenant. He was a former member of the Conshohocken, Plymouth Whitemarsh Exchange Club. Dick was also an avid outdoorsman active in hunting, fishing and working with horses at the Devon Horse Show. He did some drag racing in his younger years and enjoyed collecting and restoring hot rods. He is survived by his wife Betty (Weaver) Simon; a son Richard A. "Drew" Simon of Plymouth Meeting; a brother Elbert W. Simon Jr. of Lafayette Hill; a niece Robin Feely and a nephew Chip Simons. He was predeceased by a sister Joan Onraet. Friends may call Thursday, Noember 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Saint Peter's Lutheran Church, 3025 Church Rd., Lafayette Hill.
