Robert Borgard

1929 - 2018

Robert Eugene Borgard, born March 27, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA to Harry H. and Margaret Watkin Borgard, went home to be with his Lord on May 24, 2018 in Lancaster, PA at the age of 89. He was a proud Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. Robert was a loving and devoted husband to Claire Elizabeth Borgard for 63 years prior to her homegoing in 2015. They were avid travelers – throughout the United States and the world. If they weren’t on the road, you would find them on the beaches of their beloved Ocean City, NJ. He was predeceased by his sister Joan, and is survived by his brother Harry. He will be dearly missed by his five surviving children: Robert Borgard (wife Louella), Elizabeth Shaw (husband Wayne), William Borgard (wife Elaine), Bruce Borgard (wife Terri), and Leah VanDivner; as well as ten grandchildren: Christian Borgard, Carrie Borgard, Heather Willis, Timothy Shaw, Tanya Madrigale, Kelley Limbauan, Janis Wells, Jenna Borgard, Sydney VanDivner, Drew VanDivner; and four great-grandchildren: Dylan Wells, Lucas Wells, Ella Mendez, and Jackson Willis. A graveside service at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens will be private.
