Sonja Romano

Sonja (Fleming) Romano, age 73 of Norristown, PA died on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in Mercy Suburban Hospital, East Norriton, PA. Mrs. Romano was the loving and devoted wife of William A. Romano, Sr. Born in Phoenixville on February 7, 1939, Sonja was a daughter to the late James and Sonja (Zazilla) Fleming, Sr. Stein Steel Company of Harleysville, PA employed Sonja before her retirement. She was a member of Visitation BVM Church in Trooper and a member of the church's Women's Guild. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, gardening and making Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls. Her children Karen Leser wife to the late Gregory Leaser, Melany Ansinn and husband Detlev, William Romano, Jr., John Romano, Vanessa Lilly and husband Randy, Jennifer Bodek and husband John, and James Romano survive her. A son Charles Romano also preceded her in death. Her 11 grandchildren Monika, Alexandria, and Guenter Ansinn, Jessica and Ashley Romano, John and Joshua Romano, Benjamin and Jessica Lilly, and Zachary and Miranda Bodek, a great grandchild Sophia Bella Black and many nieces and nephews also survive her. Her siblings Catherine Rappatone, James Fleming and Jayne Longo. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sonja's "Life Celebration" on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 7:00-to 9:00 PM at the Boyd-Horrox Funeral Home of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike, (1-800-GIVNISH). There will be an additional calling period on Tuesday from 9:00 to 9:45 AM in Visitation BVM Church, 196 N. Trooper Road, Norristown, PA 19403 with her Funeral Mass being celebrated at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, 2400 DeKalb Pike, East Norriton, PA 19401. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials in Mrs. Romano's memory can be made to Visitation BVM Church at the above address.
