Thomas Horton Obituary
Born in Germantown on January 13, 1944, he was the son of the late Robert H. Horton Sr. and Anna (Corley Horton. Thomas graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School, Philadelphia and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Spring House, PA.
Thomas, formerly of Swedeland, was employed at Norristown State Hospital, retiring after 35 years of service in the Forensic Unit. He also served as Shop Steward and Executive Board Member of AFSCME-Local 2940.
As a successful entrepreneur, Thomas founded the Lone Wolf Enterprises, Appliance Dealership and Service.
Thomas was extremely proud of his Native American heritage and was a member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation. He traveled throughout the country on the "Pow Wow" circuit, selling his Native American crafts and jewelry. He was well known by his tribal name "Lone Wolf".
He was also invited my many schools to share his Native American Heritage with the students.?Surviving Thomas is his loving family including sons, Wesley Graham of Mt. Airy, Thomas Graham of Norristown, Delkeas Horton of Warminster, Kasheena Horton-Smith of Germantown; brothers, Robert Horton Jr. (Theresa) of Florida, Richard Horton Sr. of Texas, Peter Horton of Norristown, Stephen Horton Sr. (Frances) of Iowa, John Horton Sr. (Pamella) of Collegeville, James Gregory Horton of Norristown; sisters, Hanoi Crews (James) of Harrisburg, Alison Jane Horton-Reynolds of Norristown, Linda Harrison (George) of North Wales, Barbara Rae Horton of New York and Suzanne Horton-Lake of Norristown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Ronald Horton, Michael Horton and spiritual sister Mary Johnson-Etheredge. Thomas was a proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, March 14th at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Penllyn Pike and Dager Road, Spring House. Viewing will be 9 to 11 a.m.. Home going service will start at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
Relatives and friends are invited to have lunch with the family immediately following the services at Elmwood Park Zoo, 1661 Harding Blvd, Norristown.
