Almeda (Medie) Ellis, a proud lifelong Vallejo resident has passed away on April 5, after a long illness. She was born in
Kansas City, Kansas, the youngest of five children, to Cora Lee Ogan and Thomas Chaney. She was raised by her mother, mostly in Vallejo, and graduated from Analy High in Sebastopol while living with her aunt in
Forestville, CA. She considered herself a Vallejo High graduate because her husband and many lifelong friends graduated from there the same year. She and her husband loved going to all reunions.After High School she moved back to Vallejo and worked at Crowley's Department store in downtown Vallejo. She worked in the office and had great stories of learning each desk while managing the busy switchboard at the same time. Later she worked for the family business, Jack Ellis Electric, in Vallejo, again learning each desk and managing the office until her retirement. She enjoyed being a bookkeeper and was very proud that at one time she handled the business books along with various relative's and charity financial accounts at the same time.Medie was the Charter President of the Greater Vallejo Lioness Club. She loved her club and the great work all Lions Clubs did for the Vallejo community. She treasured hosting many dinners at her own home and formal events for her beloved Lions. She was active with Lions International and was very proud of the various awards she received throughout the years. She loved traveling with her husband, including internationally and many trips with the Lions community.She is predeceased by her parents and siblings, Hale (Irene) Chaney, Thomasene Chaney, Clifton Chaney, and Cora Belle (Harry) Harris, and her grandson, Geoffrey Fisher. She is also predeceased by in-laws, Irma and Jack Ellis, sister and brother-in-law Joy and Val Forbush, brother-in-law, Terril Ellis, and sister-in-law, Dalyte Hartsough. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Russell Ellis, who cared for her at home up until a month before her death and her children, Robert Fisher of Leavenworth, Kansas, Linda (Joe) Boyce and Diana (Joe) Cirimele both of Paradise CA, and Lisa Ellis of Vallejo, stepdaughters Nancy (Jim) Cronholm of
Cottage Grove, Oregon and Cindy (Bob) Rose of
Summersville, West Virginia. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Eva Ellis, and brother-in-law, Donald Hartsough. Medie also leaves behind her precious 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter and many special nieces and nephews and their children. At her request there will be no memorial and her family will hold a private celebration of life. The family would like to thank Suncrest Hospice and the Neptune Society.
