James A. Nutt

James A. Nutt, 81, passed away Saturday on his 61st wedding anniversary at his home following a long illness. He was born in Westerville, OH and had been a Benicia resident for over 60 years. Jim was a veteran of the United States Air Force from 1955-1957. Jim worked as a foreman for Allied Products in Benicia for many years and later as a meat cutter for Safeway Stores. Jim was a member of Alcoholic Anonymous for 41 years and was a leader and inspiration to many of its members, helping many stay sober along the way. He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Benicia and a former volunteer fireman with the Benicia Fire Department. He was also a Little League and women's softball coach.Jim is survived by his sons, Mark (Janet) Nutt and Steve Nutt; sister, June Harley; grandchildren, Mitchell, Brandi, Anthony and Amber, and his great grandchildren, Jadyn, Aneva, Kaelynn, Jaxson and Chase. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jerrie in 2013, and his daughter in law, Lynn M. Daley this past January.Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 5 at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at Passalacqua Funeral Chapel.
