Jerrel Lynn SmithGordon was born to Evelyn Smith Pettaway and Robert Smith. She resided in Vallejo and retired from Vallejo City Unified School District. Jerrel was a warm-hearted and easy-going woman who enjoyed spending time with family, hosting holiday meals, and discovering new places in the Bay Area and beyond. She was creative with a strong sense of style that was evident in her interior designs and methods for keeping organized. She will be remembered for her strong religious beliefs and love for everyone. She leaves to celebrate her homegoing a brother, William E. Pettaway; her husband, ST (Scotty) Gordon; son, Dalonn Green; daughter, Mechiel Taylor; stepchildren, Jamie Gordon, Jacqueline Gordon, Joycelyn Sabir, Stacy Gordon; and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.Memorial services will be held on October 2, 2021 at 11 a.m., Southside Church of Christ, 1501 Florida St., Richmond, CA.The Gordon family is thankful for everyone's acts of love and sympathy, prayers, phone calls, and cards.

She was my co-worker and an excellent teacher. The students respected her. A very kind person. I love Mrs. Smith-Gordon. Always sweet, kind, and loving to all. She will be missed.

I´m so sorry for your loss this is such a shock. Mrs. Smithgordon was my AMAZING teacher at Spingstowne middle school and also my neighbor for a couple years. She was an amazing person and had a beautiful soul. Sending out prayers and condolences to all family and friends.

A wonderful woman and teacher. I had the privilege of working with her for 6 years at SpMS. She was a bright soul who added so much to the lives of children and staff members. I remember her fondly and know she is at peace with the father in heaven. She held a strong faith as a strong woman.
