She was born in Boston, MA, in 1940 to Donal and Annette Sullivan. She attended Brown University and USF and graduated from Hayward State College. Marcia had a master's degree in English, along with a BCLAD and other teaching credentials. She taught in Contra Costa County and at the Vallejo Adult School. Her teaching career culminated at Armijo High School, Fairfield, where her many contributions included teaching ESL for 15 years.
Marcia was a member of the United Church of Christ for over 35 years. She was interested in many things, including hiking, reading, travel, learning the Spanish language and working tirelessly for her students. She loved most of all spending time with her family, including her daughter, Gail Stewart White (Robert) and Julia Whitworth (Lance), her sister, Gail Mckissick and her grandchildren, Emilie, Andrew, Madeline and Justin. She was a truly exceptional friend, sister, mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed.
Her memorial will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, at the Community Congregational Church/United Church of Christ in Benicia.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the United Church of Christ and the American Cancer Society.

Gail & Julia, I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was so good to my mom all those years. Your mother was the most giving and understanding person I knew growing up. She will be greatly missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and yours at this sad time for you.

Gail, Julia, and families, My prayers are with you at this time. Marcia was a great friend from the time we arrived in '67. She was there for many people. I know how she loved her teaching. She lived for the time she would spend with your families. Her grand children were her life. I visited with her just before Julia arrived and how she looked forward to attending Emilies play. May she be remembered always.

I worked with Marcia at Armijo for many years. She had a HUGE heart and wanted nothing but the best for ALL of her students. I loved talking with her about her family. She will be missed.
