Michael Vincent Lopretta was born on August 7, 2002 in Berkeley, CA. Michael was known for his infectious smile, positive vibes, his love of baseball, good food, and genuine love for his friends and family. While his life was cut short as he emerged into his adulthood, Michael experienced falling in love, graduating from high school, the thrill of hitting several home runs over the fence while he played baseball, the torture and exhilaration of pitching on the mound, winning a championship with his teams, and watching his beloved SF Giants win several World Series. He also met players he admired at signings, held his baby brother after he was born, was the staff favorite at his after school program, learned how to perfect his own recipe for fall off the bone ribs, and delighted his family with a big pot of pasta on cold nights. He enjoyed family reunions at the family ranch in Salinas, where he'd learn about his family's history and how they came to America. Michael was a great believer in civil disobedience, often calling his curfew "dumb" and always had energy to debate his position. Although his family often had to convince him that the drive wasn't that long, Michael loved going on road trips.Michael loved trips to the wilderness, boat rides on the lake and many trips to Disneyland. Michael loved local road trips with his friends and talking with them about his plans to move out, get a job with benefits, and their future together as friends and family. Michael was always willing to drop everything last minute for a Giants game, a bowl of hot chowder, garlic fries, and a hot fudge sundae.Michael was a sneakerhead. He attended conventions to meet up with others like him, always seeking out the perfect J's. Michael loved trading shoes, which then fueled his love of making a deal, growing into flipping cars.Michael had a big heart and was always willing to help, evidenced by how he guided and helped his cousin Kassidy and loved playing video games with his cousin Clark, and enjoyed bringing food to his Uncle Hector and his Aunt Kimi in exchange for long talks and fixing his car. Michael also volunteered for food banks, outreach programs for the unhoused, holiday food drives, organizations that helped youth be more involved in their communities, and donated his clothing to others who needed it.Michael adored his older siblings. His older sister Emily taught him how to read and do simple math before he started elementary school, helping him to excel. Michael loved to make a grand entrance and crash all of his sister's sleepovers and parties. Emily and Michael were there for each other when they struggled and needed advice. Emily referred to Michael as her "Mikey" and they attended each other's sporting events and cheered each other on. Michael loved his brothers Jeremy and Jason Boyer, and loved to tag along with them. Michael was a wonderful "bro" to his younger brother Connor, always giving him hugs, happy meals, and cooking him food, and had plans to coach his t-ball team when he was old enough.Michael made good use of his beautiful eyes and big smile during his employment at McDonald's and Jack in the Box in Benicia, a delivery driver for Mountain Mike's in Vallejo, and briefly during his time as a Door Dasher. Michael got to experience living in a close knit community and a big city, was taught by amazing teachers and mentored by his coaches who helped shape his great sportsmanship on the field, often saving his venting for the car ride home but easily dispelled by a Kinder's ball tip or a double double, fries, and a shake at In-N-Out. Michael would want all his friends and family to live a full and happy life.Michael is survived by his parents, Michael Lopretta and Jessica Treat; bonus mom, Michele Lopretta and bonus dad Sean Treat; his siblings, Emily Lopretta, Jason and Jeremy Boyer, and Connor Treat; his soulmate, Jennifer Camacho; his great-grandparents, Robert Hernandez and Marcy Richardson; grandparents, Jeff and Norma Shutt, Suzanne Lopretta, Jan Treat, and Dennis and Nancy Treat; aunts and uncles, Adam Lopretta and Mary Do, Dan "Fal" Lopretta and Chelsea Lopretta, Jeffrey and Jennifer Shutt, Alicia Manalili, and Jeff and Alé Treat, Hector Hernandez and Kimi Ferriera; cousins, Clark Hernandez, Kassidy Drakos, Marilyn Shutt, Liam Shutt, CJ Manalili, Daniel and Derek Lopretta, MacKenzie and Loren Tapia, Phillip Tapia, Sophia Hernandez, Logan, Blake, and Caden Burnett; as well as hundreds of family members from the Matt Williams family, Lopretta family, Shutt family, Hernandez family, Guziejka family, and Treat family; and his community.A celebration of life is scheduled on December 18, 2021 at Northgate Church, 2201 Lake Herman Road, Benicia, CA from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
