Robert C. Brown Sr. passed away peacefully Dec. 13, at the age of 84, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Meridian, Mississippi, on 12-9-25, to Frank and Lula Brown. Robert came to Vallejo in 1948 and pursued what was to become a successful career as a "master watchmaker," followed by building a retail jewelry business, Brown's Jewelers, for more than 54 years.
Robert was extremely active in the betterment of downtown Vallejo and served on many of its boards. He was considered a role model by many and always lent his time and knowledge for the progressiveness of all people. His deepest dreams were that all mankind would work together for a common good.
He will always be remembered as a Vallejo icon who broke down barriers and helped many. Robert was a phenomenal husband, father and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have met him.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ranola; children, Robert Jr. (Mimi), Ranola, Michelle (Micheal) and Rochelle (Jason). Grandfather of Robert, Brian, John, Donovan and Alexandra. Great-grandfather of Bryan David, Dorian and Devonte. He is survived by his sisters, Ardelma Issac, Agnes Patrick, Ruth Jones and Marvis Brown, and his brothers, James and Lewis.
A celebration of his life will be held during a memorial service on January 9, 2010, at 11 a.m., in Kyles Temple AME Zion Church at 902 Florida St., Vallejo, CA.
