I grew up next door to Ed and Millie and it was wonderful to know them and their family. They taught me much about gardening, cooking, auto mechanics, sports and most of all - life an human kindness, I will never forget their expression when they came home from work at the sewing factory and the Ford dealership to discover that I made them a still beside the grape arbor in their back yard, or in later years when I returned home to visit to see her quilt creations. I gave her a copy of the film "How to make an American Quilt" knowing full well a movie should have been made. About Millie and how she looked after all the different people and their needs in the neighborhood and how she pre poo pared food for them creatively modifying her wonderful recipes to address their health needs. She often said that she wanted to become a doctor , when in reality, she lived as a true healer to everyone she knew in her life. Memories for her and her teachings often influence my life as a doctor and human being striving to be a compassionate person, Her life has touched millions of people and will continue on long after her physical body has died. I recognize her in so many everywhere´s.

From a young age Great Aunt Amelia and Edwin were always an inspiration to me when it came to marriage; she always spoke so fondly of their decades of shared life together and encouraged me to seek that same genuine bond.

Although my time with Amelia was brief each encounter was impactful, leaving me hopeful and optimistic for all that was to come in this lifetime.

Please know we are sending our prayers and deepest condolences.
