LARKSVILLE — Andrew "Boot" Niznik, 95, a proud native of Larksville, Pa., passed away peacefully Jan. 3, 2025.
Born Oct. 3, 1929, Andy lived a full life marked by love, service and unwavering dedication to his family, church, community and country. A gifted athlete, Andy shone brightly in his youth as both quarterback and kicker for the Larksville "Green Wave" High School football team. It was during those memorable days that he met the love of his life, Anna T. Rychlewski, the team's head cheerleader. They married and embarked on a lifetime of shared adventure and devotion.
Following high school, Andy enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country with honor and distinction for over 20 years. His career took him across the globe, with assignments in Japan, England, Libya and several stateside posts, including North Carolina, Massachusetts, Wyoming and Alaska. Rising to the rank of master sergeant, Andy retired after 20 years, 6 months, and 26 days of exemplary service to his nation.
After his military retirement, Andy returned to his beloved hometown of Larksville, where he built a home and raised his two sons, Andy and Brian. He was a devoted husband and father, instilling in his children the values of hard work, kindness and integrity. He was known to all as an incredibly genuine, loving and giving man whose kindness touched everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the countless lives he impacted throughout his extraordinary life.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Larksville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors, a fitting tribute to a life of service and sacrifice.
Andy was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Anna; and his son, Andy.
He is survived by his son, Brian and wife, Jackie; grandchildren: Jack and wife, Cat; Alex; Jade; Jamie and husband, Graig; Anna and husband, Chris; two great-grandchildren, Drew and Grayson; brother, Joseph; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of love and generosity.
The family is deeply grateful and would like to give special thanks to Bridget, Anna and Briana, who lovingly took care of Andy in his final years.
Rest in peace, Andy. You were a shining example of love, courage and selflessness, and your memory will forever live on in the hearts of your family and friends.

Brian, we are so sorry for the loss of your dad. He was our Uncle Boot (the Rychlewski's from Michigan), and we have great memories of our visits to PA. He had a great smile and laugh. He had a generous and welcoming heart. Our country owes him a debt of gratitude for his military service. His light has gone out on earth, but the heavens shine brighter, and his memory lives on to comfort and encourage us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Love Missy

My sympathies to Mr. Niznik's family. My own parents, Clem and Claire Gulla, were friends with Ann and Andy in Wyoming, when they were stationed at Francis E Warren AFB. All of them fron NEPA, but living the Air Force life half way across the US.
My parents are not with us, too, but I recall my parents' sharing good memories between Pennsylvania friends all together in the 60s. May good memories be a comfort to your family during this difficult time.

RIP dear Mr. Niznik, last of the "greats." We live by example, in honor, and now in memory of our extraordinary parents. They gave freely of their time, effort, and talents, all while working In great friendship for the betterment of their church and community. And because of our parents, we shared special friendships too. Such good times, great memories, and in a place we´ll always call home, LARKSVILLE.
So sorry for your loss dear friend Brian and family.
