TUNKHANNOCK — Barbara (Benninger) Davis of Tunkhannock was called to God on July 11, 2024, at Fox Chase Cancer Center. She was surrounded with love by her family at the time of her passing.
Barbara was born July 19, 1950, to Howard and the late Janice Benninger.
In addition to her father, Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Don; three children and their spouses: Dr. Melissa and Dr. Stephen Banks; Matthew and Sarah Davis; and Allison and David Ramil; as well as her brother and his wife, Larry and Susan Benninger. One of the great joys of her life was being grandma to her seven grandchildren: Dyllan and Alex Banks; Emerald, Violet, Zinnia and Winter Davis; and Lucas Ramil.
Barb was a 1968 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and a 1972 graduate of East Stroudsburg State College. Barb was a kindergarten teacher for 33 years in the Mountain View and Tunkhannock Area school districts. She was instrumental in Tunkhannock moving from half time kindergarten to full time kindergarten. Barb loved teaching and would spend many hours sitting on the living room floor working on a variety of projects to engage her students.
Barbara was also active in the community with Brownies, Girls Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, as well as the Dietrich Theatre and Beta Rho Chapter of teachers. She loved following her childrens' sports careers and was active in age group swimming and the Tunkhannock Baseball and Basketball Associations. Barb enjoyed watching Melissa, Matt and Allison compete with the Tigers, and served on many of the high school booster clubs. She was the official volleyball mom of the Lady Tigers for over 25 years. One of her favorite things was making sports teams orange crush cookies after big victories. Barb also enjoyed attending Fellowship of Christian Athlete Coach's clinics with her families.
In her free time, Barb enjoyed outdoor activities and spending time with her grandchildren, the joy of her life. She always looked forward to creating memories with her family, especially enjoying a week together at the beach every summer. She also enjoyed watching Penn State women's volleyball, football and Tar Heel basketball with Don. After retirement, she took up cycling with Don as well.
Barbara was an active member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, and had a deep faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. She served on many committees and was a Sunday school teacher for over 25 years.
Services will include a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Harding Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, and a funeral at 10 a.m. Thursday in Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, 4 Church St., Tunkhannock.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, Dietrich Theatre, American or Wyoming County Cancer Societies, or Alpha-1 Foundation.

Don and family. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Barb. It has been many years but I enjoyed being her sister-in-law (ex). Sending a hug and prayers to your family.

Barb was a wonderful teacher and a lovely woman. Both of my sons had her in TASD over 25 years ago. Barb´s calm and engaging demeanor was a wonderful introduction for them to the public school system. May you find peace in knowing how much she positively impacted the life´s of so many young children.
