WILKES-BARRE — Barbara Pisarcik, 86, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, in her home with her beloved husband, Daniel, by her side.
Barbara was one of nine children born to the late Stanley and Clara Jamaca of Wilkes-Barre Township. Dad likes to say he married the most beautiful girl in Georgetown. Dan and Barb met on a blind date when she was 15 years old. A year later they were married. This past November, they celebrated 69 years of wedded bliss. Well, Dad will joke and say he's been happily married for 3 years. If you know him, you know just how deeply he loved her, ever calling her his "beautiful bride."
Exactly a year after Dan and Barb married, Barb gave birth to the only other man she ever loved, her son, Daniel Jr. (68, Kingston). She was so proud of his athletic prowess and attended and cheered for her son with vigor. Although she didn't like him losing weight for wrestling or gaining it for football, she was always there to support him.
Almost ten years later, Barb gave birth to her baby girl, Kimberly (59, Wyoming). Barb enjoyed taking "Kimi" shopping, going out to lunch, watching the Hallmark channel, and visiting with her when she became an adult. She also loved Kimi's dogs, and would end conversations with Barb telling her to kiss and hug the babies for her. Barb was also blessed with two grandsons: David (35, Philadelphia) and Kristopher (who preceded in death on Feb. 29, 2016).
Barb retired as the director of the cafeteria of Bishop Hoban High School of the Scranton Diocese after 35 years of service. Many of the students called her "Mrs. P." or more affectionately "mom." It wasn't uncommon for her to give away the leftover hot dogs and hamburgers to the students. And teachers would often request "to go" containers of her homemade chicken noodle soup and chili.
She will be missed by many, including her husband, son, daughter, grandson, nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives.
The viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, 59 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Saint Aloysius/Saint Robert Bellarmine Church, 143 Division Street, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Dan, I am so sorry I could not get to the funeral home and see you and Kim personally. Barbara was a magnificent, kind, and happy person. I have so many memories of our years together at Hoban and seeing her at Schiel's in later years. She and Mary Thomas were so good to us in our early teaching years. We shared many laughs. I will always remember her kind ways. I pray for you, Kim and your family and know how Barbara loved you all so much.

Aunt Barbara, although we lived on opposite sides of the country. I always appreciated how you were able to connect with our family. Every phone call you had with my Mom always included how are the kids. These phone calls also included many laughs. I know how loved you are and how much you will be missed. May you rest in peace.

Barbara, you were not just my sister, but also my role model and my confidante. Your warmth, kindness, and strength were a light in my life and in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing you. I will forever cherish the memories of our laughter and the way you always knew how to make things better. My heart aches without you here, but I find comfort in knowing that your legacy of love and generosity lives on in your children. You will always be deeply missed and endlessly loved. Rest peacefully, my beautiful sister.
