PLAINS — Caroline J. Kelly, 92, of Plains, passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017.
Born in Wyoming , Caroline lived most of her life in Plains Township. She was the daughter of the late Sterling and Laura (Mervine) Lutz. Caroline attended Plains Memorial High School and worked at the Kiddie Shoppe, Wilkes-Barre. Following her marriage, Caroline devoted her life to the care of her family and community. She enjoyed baking and sharing those baked goods with family, friends and neighbors. Caroline also enjoyed crossword puzzles. But her greatest joy was her family and the pride she felt in the accomplishments of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis G. Kelly, in 2003; sisters Mildred Eustice, Martha Harding, Evelyn Femau and Ruth Forlenza; brothers, William Lutz and Marvin Lutz. Caroline is survived by her children, Frank Kelly and wife Pam, of Shavertown; daughter, Virginia and husband, Mark Manarski, of Plains; grandchildren Atty. Lauren Michaels, Lindsey Kelly, Erica Manarski and Benjamin Manarski; sisters, Margaret (Peggy) Arcadu, of Easton, Laura Kotula, of Dupont; nieces, nephews, and friends.
Caroline's family would like to thank Dr. Olshemski and Dr. Protyniak and the wonderful staff of Timber Ridge for their tender care of Caroline in her final days.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains, with Pastor Rev. Paul Amara of the Plains United Methodist Church officiating. Relative and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Plains United Methodist Church or the American Red Cross.

Francis and Ginny, I'm very sorry to hear of your moms passing. she sent me the longest letters with her xmas card. she was a good friend to my mother and will be missed by everyone.
