Cecelia "Ceil" Kozlowski, 85, of Hunlock Creek, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Loyalville, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Edith Gibbletts Mazonkey.
She was a graduate of Lehman High School. Ceil was employed with many different jobs in her long career — her first job was in a jacket factory. She told her children she only lasted a few months, then moved to Philadelphia to join her sisters at Bell Telephone as a customer service representative, then worked her way up to supervisor. She later moved back to the area, met Eugene and got married. Ceil then worked for Commonwealth Telephone Company for over 25 years, finishing her career as a repair supervisor.
Ceil had many pets that she loved — two dogs growing up, Rex and Tuffy, and cats when raising her children, Tiger, Patrick, and recently Jeanie, plus a few turtles along the way.
Ceil and Gene loved our neighborhood. The neighbors were family to us, willing to help each other in any way needed. Our mom was fortunate to never have to move from home.
Ceil had many hobbies, including sewing, making beautiful clothes for Suzanne and her baby dolls, and items for her granddaughter, gardening, canning foods, cooking, baking, crossword puzzles, and even making wine with Gene in the basement. She also had a great love for reading. She would often borrow 300 books yearly from the Mill Memorial Library. Another great joy of her life was spending time with her two grandchildren. She loved being Nana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, and siblings, Lorraine, Michael, Ellie, Marie, and Arlene.
Surviving are her son, David and his wife, Heidi, of Sweet Valley; daughter, Suzanne Kozlowski Jarrett and her husband, David, of Sayre; grandchildren, Sarah and Jeffrey Kozlowski; siblings, Ricky Moore of Texas; Bob Mazonkey and his wife, Barbara, of Maryland; Linda Caboot of Duryea; Eydie Piatt of Ohio; and Carol Arner of Beaumont; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday from Charles L. Cease Funeral Home, 634 Reyburn Road, Shickshinny. Friends and family may call from 10 a.m. to service time.
Interment will follow in Benscoter Cemetery, Hunlock Creek.
As per Ceil's wishes, please refrain from sending flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the Mill Memorial Library, 495 E. Main St., Nanticoke, PA 18634.
