NOXEN — Charles W. Womer, age 95 of Noxen, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.
He was born in Kingston on May 19, 1927, and was the son of the late Richard and Mary Bambert Womer.
Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1951. He was employed as a machinist at Atlas Chain, and Kanarr Corp.; was a self-employed mason, worked for Bank's Paving/Construction, American Asphalt, Singer Corp., Proctor and Gamble Paper Products, DCNR Forkston Fire Tower; and was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Noxen Volunteer Fire Company, and was a founding member of the Noxen police force. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling with his wife to Canada, North Carolina and Thousand Islands, N.Y.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Richardson; brothers: Albert, Elwood and Urban Womer; sister, Clara Siglin.
Charles is survived by his wife of 75 years, the former Margaret Miller; son, Robert Womer and his wife Lora, of Hunlock Creek; brothers: Bob Womer and his wife Dori of Connecticut; and Fred Womer of Noxen; sister, Louise Shishkowski of Noxen; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, 10 nieces and 10 nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas, at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.
