Clifford Woodall Obituary

Clifford Thomas Woodall
1925-2014
Our beloved father, grandfather, and brother, Clifford Thomas Woodall, 89, passed away August 28, 2014, in Sandy, Utah. He wore his body out. He was tired and needed rest in the arms of his eternal companion, Merna.
Clifford was born July 20, 1925, in Salt Lake City to Clifford Samuel Woodall and Rura Vivian Jones. He graduated from West High in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army starting in 1946. Then he served an LDS Mission in Ontario, Canada, from 1949 to 1951.
Toward the end of Clifford's mission, a total stranger, Merna Sampson, the daughter of Alonzo Sampson and Mary Alice Allred, wrote him a letter. Her roommate Helen Glad gave her his name and address. Clifford and Merna fell in love through their letters. They married Jan. 24, 1952, in the Manti Temple. They had six sons and three daughters.
He was devoted to his faith and accepted all positions he was called to. One of his delights was working under the direction of his friend LaVar Wallgren as they put the gold leafing on a dozen or more Angel Moronis.

He was preceded in death by Merna; his sisters June Paget, Vera Paget, and Marie Bennett and his brother Bill; his twin sons Daniel and Dennis; and his great-grandson Ansen Merrick.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday., Sepember 6, 2014, at the Kearns Stake Center, 4260 W. 5215 S., Kearns, Utah. Those who wish to visit the family may do so starting at 9 a.m. Interment will be at West Jordan Cemetery.
The family is especially grateful for the loving care Clifford was given by Karalee Clark; the nurses, CNAs, and staff at Canyon Rim Care Center, Sandy Health and Rehab, and OneCare; and the leaders and volunteers at the LDS branches he attended at his first care center in Salt Lake and his second in Sandy.

Dear Woodall family, My dad is Clifton Parkinson, he would be Clifford's cousin, just saw his obt and thought I would let my dad know, too. He said he misses him and helped him find his car one day at the Jordan River Temple, he would see him and his wife there on many occasions. He was surprized to hear that he did the gold leaving on the Angel Moronis, so cool.
My dad lives in St. George now and he is not doing the best with his health, wish I could of let him know sooner, he does send his condolances also. May the memories be sweet and everlasting,
Love ya'

I just learned of the passing of your father. My husband and I had the privilege of meeting him at Sandy Health & Rehab. He was my husband's table mate and he was such a gentleman and so fun to talk to. One of the things I remember best about him was how much catsup he liked to put on his food! I will miss talking to him and I'm sorry I just heard about his passing today because I would liked to have attended his service. Your father definitely earned his angel wings while hear on earth and I feel so happy that he is now being kept company by his life mate. He talked of her often and always got tears in his eyes when he did so. We will miss him, Sincerely, Pat and Dick Winzenried (Dick is in 206).

I am sorry to know that the world has lost such a kind, faithful man. I admired him as a bishop and for everything before and after. I know my parents would have loved to be there, but my dad can't endure sitting for long and I'm not sure whether my mother would even remember being there. What great memories we all have to hold onto and share with him once again when we meet. May the Lord bless and comfort you. Lorraine Fulton Linares

Dad, You were always their for me from the time I was little and as an adult. Thank you for being such a wonderful Dad, I Love you and miss you very much, but I know that you are with mom now and that is what comforts me because you have missed her so bad, now you are together again and able to raise Dennis and Daniel. I truly want to go fishing and stand in your place and catch a big one just for you.
