Mr. Cyrill B. Tuhy entered eternal life early Monday morning, October 1, 2012, in the Whispering Hills Nursing Home in Tuscon, Ariz., where he resided for several years.
A native of Wilkes-Barre, Cy was a son of the late Rev. Stefan and Ludmila (Lichner) Tuhy. At the time of his passing, the Rev. Stefan Tuhy was pastor of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre for over 51 years.
Immediately upon graduation from the James M. Coughlin High School in 1944, Cy joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country until 1946.
He was employed by the former Trans World Airlines for 35 years in Kansas City, Kan., Marion, Ohio and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, Avoca for many years, later being transferred to Tucson in 1962.
A man of many interests, Cy also qualified as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in Pima County, Ariz., a capacity he volunteered at for 10 years. His interest in outdoor life prompted him also to volunteer as a Deputy Game Protector in both Pennsylvania and Arizona. Cy was a Scoutmaster and served as a Girl Scout advisor. His love of singing kept him active with the Barbershoppers (S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A.) in Wilkes-Barre as well as in Tucson for many years.
Cy was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Van Bibber Tuhy; children, Stephen and his wife, Kathryn, of Independence, Mo., Marjorie Houle and her husband, Joseph, of Casa Grande, Ariz., Natalia Sugameli and her husband, Rocco, of Tucson; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Darina Tuhy, his brother, Philip Tuhy, both of Wilkes-Barre; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Tucson.

Ginny,
We are never prepared for the loss of a loved one, but God is always prepared to help us through that loss. May His presence begin the healing in your heart and soul, and may His love surround you with the comfort that only He can give. I will always have such great memories of Cy and I'll forever remember how he always made me laugh. We now have another great angel that has went home. Love you and know you and your family is in my prayers.

Being the youngest grandchild of Cyrill Tuhy, it is hard for me because I have a lot of very precious memories, which I'm sure the rest of the family does as well. But I never really got to know him the way everyone else did. And I really miss him and wished I had spent more time with him. I love you Tato. Je ne vous oublie pas, Tato. (I will not forget you, Tato.)
