Daniel Luce

Daniel J. Luce, 73, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born in Washington D.C., on April 3, 1952, he was a son of the late Charles and Hildegard (Birk) Luce.

Daniel proudly served four years in the U.S. Air Force and then an additional four in the U.S. Army, from which he retired as a captain. He also worked for 26 years for the state as a disability supervisor in the Social Security Administration until his retirement in 2014.

Daniel lit up a room, and it seemed as if everyone knew who he was when he entered. He enjoyed traveling with his loving wife, and they were a dual karaoke threat whenever the opportunity presented itself. Daniel may have only been a father of two, but there were many more who saw him as a father figure. He was intelligent, kind, quick-witted, and would never miss the chance to tell a Dad joke. Loved by all who knew him and a spirit no one could duplicate.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Donna L. (Vince) Luce; son, Daniel Luce; daughter, Casey Johnston and fiancée, Kelvin Edwards; grandchildren, Darrien, Kaejon, Bianca, Freddy, and Kelvin Jr.; great-grandson, Giovanni; and brothers, Charles and George Luce.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday from Kniffen O'Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Officiating will be William Beam. American Legion Post 609 will also be in attendance. Family and friends may visit from 4 to 7 p.m.
