FREELAND — Darryl Arnold, 53, of Freeland, entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday, Oct., 11, 2014, at his residence. Born in Nanticoke, he was a son of Shirley (Ogin) Arnold and the late Harry "Fagan" Arnold.
He worked for 20 years at the Keystone Job Corps Center, Drums, and then at the Youth Forestry Camp #2, as a youth aid supervisor. Before retiring, he was the owner and operator of Brother Darryl's Draft House, Freeland. After retirement, he was a member of the Luzerne County Youth Aid Panel. He spent a large part of his life serving and helping local youth.
Darryl was a published author and was a very creative person who loved to write poetry and songs, and especially enjoyed singing and playing his guitar. He was a member of the Masons and liked to do auctioning, antiquing, cooking and creating recipes.
Darryl always had a smile on his face and was willing to help all those in need.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his father, by his maternal grandparents, Alice and William Ogin; his paternal grandparents, Mary Ann and Harry Arnold; and his brother-in-law, James McGarry.
Darryl is survived by in addition to his mother, who thought of him as her best buddy; by his wife, Renay, who felt Darryl was her beloved husband and best friend who meant everything to her; his brother, Duane Arnold and his wife, Linda, Dorrance; his sisters, Denise Webby and her husband, Peter, Slocum, and Darlene Arnold, Hanover Township; his mother-in-law, Jean Marie Allen, Scranton; sister-in-law, Jean Sherman and her husband, James, Scranton; brother-in-law, Robert McGarry and his wife, Marie, Clarks Summit; brother-in-law, Mark Allen, Scranton; his aunt and uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, also survive Darryl. He will also be missed by Goldie, Pugsi and Kitty.
The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Interment will follow in Stairville Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and again from 9 a.m. to service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Renay and the Arnold Family- I am so deeply saddened to hear about Darryl.. He was such a wonderful, caring, funny person. I have such great memories of spending time with him and wondering what he would do next. My thoughts and prayers are with you, I will never forget him!!!

Words cannot express my sorrow. Darryl always had a special place in my heart and although I didn't see him much I thought of him often. He was the kid with the great laugh that warmed your heart.
