David Blight Obituary
Born August 5, 1929, in Luzerne, he was a son of the late Dave and Minna Naylor Blight.
David was a life resident of Luzerne and a 1947 graduate of Luzerne High School.
Following graduation he toured the country as a tap dancer, entertaining at many of the top hotels and night clubs.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving as a corporal in the Signal Corps.
Following his discharge, he and his mother opened the David Blight School of Dance in Wilkes-Barre and about seven other schools in Northeast Pennsylvania.
Preceded in death by his wife the former Mary Alice Reddington, in 1996 and son David A., in 2007.
He was a member of Bennett Presbyterian Church in Luzerne and the King David Lodge 763, F&AM, Kingston
Surviving are children, Joe D., of Pittston, Margee Kuhl, of Exeter, and Ronnie, of Luzerne; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Karl, of Kingston; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will he held on Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the Bennett Presbyterian Church, 501 Bennett St., Luzerne. Interment will be private. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Karl E. Blight Funeral Home, 392 Wyoming Ave, Kingston. King David Lodge 763, F&AM will conduct a Masonic service at the funeral home on Thursday at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to Bennett Presbyterian Church, 501 Bennett St., Luzerne, PA 18709.
