David G. Steve, 74 of Exeter, passed away on Jan. 31, 2025 peacefully after a battle with dementia for the last 6 years. He resided at his home with his son Aaron.
David was always outgoing and tried to make everyone smile with his character and wittiness. A day never passed where he didn't ask for his favorite meal, lobster. Dave was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, this is something he loved to share with both his sons.
Dave was thrilled to see the Eagles secure a seat in this year's Super Bowl and his family is certain he will do whatever he can in heaven to arrange a win.
Born Dec. 18, 1950, David was the son of the late George J. and Bernadette T. Kurzyniec Steve.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Jerome.
He is survived by his sons, Aaron of Exeter, Ben and his wife Holly, of West Pittston, and David's former wife Gina.
David attended Exeter high school. He was the drummer for The Eighth Street Bridge, The Great Rock Scare and also for Changes and Southern Comfort.
He performed alongside many of his closest friends and thoroughly enjoyed his time as a musician. He was well known by the name "Steve-O", also lovingly known as "the old guy", which he would swiftly follow up with "who you calling old!"
He owned his own landscaping business for 20 years and later retired from American Asphalt.
Dave will be greatly missed by his loving friends and family and also his best buddy Skunky the cat.
All of his friends and loved ones are invited to a viewing on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gubbiotti Funeral Home, LLC, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Funeral service will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Cedar St., Exeter.
The family would like to extend their wholehearted appreciation for the compassionate and unwavering care Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the visiting nurses and aides provided to David at the end of his Magic Carpet Ride.

hello, david was my mom's second cousin, i tried unsuccessfully to get in touch with him a few years ago. i lost my mom last summer and know your grief will be long-lasting. my mom (gloria broski wisloski) knew bernadette and her mom marianna (wisniewska), my great grandmom anna's sister. anna and jacob urban are also in the cedar st. cemetery. that you use the correct surname kurzyniec shows me you may be interested in your family history. if or when you are ready, i would like to gift you our family tree, plus the oral stories passed down. i've been doing genetic genealogy for 10 years. pat

To the Family of Dave,
With deep sadness in hearing of Dave's passing, I think about how we grew up with music in 1966, playing in the WAHS band and getting our first rock band, The Shadows, off the ground. After that time, Dave's talent took him to greater success with local bands, success that most of us can only dream about.
Stevo, sometime in the future, we'll all meet you to get the Shadows playing again.

Started first grade together. One of the most gentle souls I've ever known. Always friendly, and always so kind. Stevo could give Ginger Baker a run for his money!! Excelent musician! Today, I'll bang the drum slowly for you, my old friend David. Condolences to your entire family and friends. Dick Foglia, Harveys Lake
