Diane T. Policare, 87, of Washington Square, Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025.
Born April 2, 1938, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Teresa Diana Zambetti.
Diane was a proud graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School and served on her class reunion committee. Her love for classical music in her youth led her to take lessons, and she played Mozart to Beethoven beautifully.
Diane was a nurse at the Kistler Clinic in Wilkes-Barre for over 40 years before retiring. In her retirement, she enjoyed the community events at Washington Square and Saturday dinners with her friends.
Diane is best known for her annual festive family Christmas parties — her love of keeping family together was her special blessing. Enormous amounts of food and highballs, with very "unique" ice cubes, kept the parties interesting. Many good laughs too.
Diane traveled to New Jersey frequently to visit her daughter, where they would spend time shopping, eating, and just "visiting" and being together. She made the best Mac 'n Cheese and piggies the size of footballs; we learned to love them.
Her daughter, Tracy Cohen; favorite son-in-law, Lenny Cohen; son, Bryan Pienta and his wife, Mary; grandson, Bryan O. Pienta; sister, Carmella Humble; niece, Krista Humble and her husband, Michael; Nancy and Jeff Thomas; and the Zambetti family are grateful for the memories and will miss her very much.
Thank you for being a strong woman, mother, and, above all, a best friend. Rest in peace.
A celebration of Diane's life will take place Friday in the Church of the Parish of St. Nicholas-Saint Mary, 226 S. Washington St.,Wilkes-Barre. A visitation will begin at 10 a.m., and a funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Donations to the CEO Weinberg Regional Food Bank, ceopeoplehelpingpeople.org/donate, are preferred and will honor Diane's memory.
