Doris Evans Mingus, 98, of Noxen, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025 at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Noxen on May 21, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Frank and Maude (Traver) Turner.
Doris graduated from Noxen High School. She worked at various supermarkets in the area and retired as a cashier from ACME Market in Shavertown. She was a former member of the Noxen United Methodist Church and was a current member of the Noxen Bible Baptist Church. Doris volunteered at the Noxen Clothes Closet. She was a great baker, loved to can, loved to give to others and enjoyed traveling across the United States. Doris was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Evans; second husband, Preston Mingus; fiancé, Dorrance Hubbell; brothers and sisters; grandson, Matthew Spencer.
Doris is survived by son, Dennis Evans Sr., and his wife, Nicoline "Pane" Evans, of Hazle Township; daughter, Linda Spencer, and her husband Don, of Dallas; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the Noxen Bible Baptist Church, 3604 State Route 29S, Noxen, PA 18636, with Pastor Ben Hubbell, officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be in the Orcutt's Grove Cemetery, Noxen.
