Dorothy Stucker Obituary

Dorothy Rose Stucker, 74, passed away Friday evening, Dec. 18, 2015, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, after bravely fighting lung cancer and surviving breast cancer. She was born July 5, 1941, in West Pittston, the daughter of the late Fred and Dorothy Williams.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Carolyn Williams and Mary Gene Tedesco; brother Robert Williams.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 54 years, Paul Stucker Sr. Also surviving are daughters, Arlene Zielinski and Sandra Marinko; son, Paul Stucker Jr.; grandchildren, Bobby and Marisa Zielinski, Abigail Stucker, P.J. Marinko; and brother, Fred Williams.

Dorothy was an avid reader, and enjoyed working at Osterhout Library for 35 years. She was a member of the Braveheart Breast Cancer Survivors, Women's Club of Parsons, and member of St. Dominic Church at St. Benedict Parish, Parsons, where she was very active as a member of the Catholic Women's Society Club of St. Benedict. She was also a member of Odyssey Fitness Center, where she made very dear and lasting friendships.

Of all of Dorothy's accomplishments, her greatest achievements have been in the lives of her family and friends. She spent most of her time being her grandchildren's number one fan and never missed spending time with family at a Sunday matinee. Dorothy had a unique gift to always put others before herself and to make all those who came upon her laugh and smile. She had one of the kindest hearts and all those who were in her presence were lifted by her vibrant personality. Her generous heart filled her home with love, family, friends and most of all, laughter.

Dorothy's funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Dominic Church, Austin Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorial donations may be made to North Branch of the Osterhout Library, 28 Oliver St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705, or to Candy's Place, 190 N. Welles St., Number 120, Kingston, PA 18704.

Thoughts and prayers to the family of Dorothy. She will be greatly missed. Dorothy was a one of a kind lady. Over the years my son, Nicholas, and I got to know Dorothy at the Library. We were always so happy to walk in and see her manning the desk. Dorothy always looked fashionable and was really a joy to talk to. God Bless. Sandy, Leo and Nicholas Sipple.
