Edward D. Gronski

Edward D. Gronski, 70, of Swetland Lane, West Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 20, 2010, at his home. Born on April 12, 1940, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Edward J. and Anne Bilinsky Gronski. He graduated from G.A.R. High School, class of 1957. From 1962 to 1968, he served in the reserves with the National Guard 109th Field Artillery. He was last employed by the former Techneglas, Pittston Township, for 17 years, retiring in 2004. He previously worked for B. F. Goodrich, Exeter, and early in life worked in construction. Mr. Gronski loved the outdoors and especially fishing and will be remembered as a magnificent cook who was always ready to feed anyone. He attended the Forty Fort United Methodist Church and was a member of the Wyoming Hose Co. No. 2. Surviving is his wife, the former Elizabeth (Betty) Ellsworth, with whom he celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary, on August 5, 2010; his son Edward J. Gronski, West Wyoming; his daughter, Sarah Urso and her husband, Ryan, Schwenksville, Pa.; grandson, Curt Thomas Gronski, West Wyoming; sisters, Sharon Tomko and her husband, Michael, Plymouth, and Jane Gronski, Palmerton, Pa.; a brother, James Gronski, Wilkes-Barre; as well as nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday from the Hugh B. Hughes and Son Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Rev. Donald Roberts officiating. Interment will be in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in his memory may be made to the S.P.C.A. of Luzerne County, 524 E.
