Elizabeth R. Stemmer, 91, of Plains Township, passed away Sunday evening, Sept. 7, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born on Jan. 3, 1934, in Plains Township, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Verespy) Seman.
Betty was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and was a homemaker and caretaker for her daughter, Mary Ann, all of her life.
She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church, Hudson section of Plains Township, until its closure, and a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Church, Plains Township.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. "Jack" Stemmer, on Oct. 16, 1987; brothers, George, Michael, Andrew and Theodore Seman; sisters, Ann Seman, Rosemary Seman, and Olga Souchik.
Surviving are her sons, John Stemmer, Plains Township, Daniel Stemmer, and his wife, Maria Nuzzolillo, Clinton, Conn., and David Stemmer, Columbia, Md.; daughter, Mary Ann Stemmer, Kingston; sisters, Mary Ann Pieszala, N.C., Sylvia Chronowski, Hudson, Margaret Seman and Irene Sorber, both of Shavertown; many nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains, PA 18705.
