Eve Lukatchik Souchik, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 31, at her home.
Born to the late John and Hope Oschypo Lukatchik, Eve was a lifelong resident of the Wyoming Valley. She graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School in 1969 and continued her education at Wilkes Business College and Luzerne County Community College. She later earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Misericordia College and subsequently her Master of Social Work degree from Marywood University.
Eve dedicated her career to serving her community as a licensed clinical social worker for the Victims Resource Center and then many years at Catholic Social Services until her retirement.
Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Eve was a devoted member of the Church of Christ Uniting in Kingston, where she volunteered on many committees.
Eve had a generous heart and a feisty spirit. She loved to sing, sew, cook, bake, and make every holiday special. Christmas was one of her favorite season's — she would spend weeks preparing dozens of varieties of cookies, beautifully packaging them to share with family, and friends. Her kitchen was her happy place, always full of delicious aromas.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie Carver; and her son, Nicholas Souchik III; grandchildren, Claudia and Lucas Carver, and Larissa, Natasha, and Lilliya Souchik.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hugh B. Hughes & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, Forty Fort.

Condolences to the Souchik family. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone, family and friends. I visited often with Eve as her pastor over the past 5 years. Eve was very knowledgeable and I will miss our conversations together. Eve fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith, she now rests in God's everlasting arms. Peace and comfort to all!
