Henry W. “Hank” Zelinski, 79, of Wyoming, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 15, 2007, at his home.
Born and raised in West Wyoming, he was a son of the late Edward and Sophie Zelinski.
He was a graduate of the class of 1948 and a veteran of World War II, serving his country in the U.S. Navy.
In 1950 he began his trade as a carpenter for Berretta Construction and the Berwick Power Plant.
Prior to his retirement in 2005, he was employed as director of maintenance at Highland Manor Nursing Home, Exeter.
He belonged to Local Carpenters Union 645.
Henry was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter; Veteran of Foreign War Post 396; a life member of Hose Company 2, Wyoming.
He lastly served 16 years of dedication at the Luzerne County Transit Authority as treasurer.
Henry was a frequent blood donor for many years for the American Red Cross. He was a member of the Wyoming/West Wyoming Senior Club and enjoyed meeting his friends daily at the local Burger King.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Chester, in Michigan.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Irene Cataluffi; his children, Henry E. and his wife, Diane, of Wyoming, Maureen Pahl and her husband, Craig, of Miami, Fla.
Henry’s pride and joy were his grandchildren, Eric and Stacy Zelinski and Jessica, Nathan and Ben Pahl, of Florida.
He is also survived by brother, Edward and his wife, Marie, of Detroit, Mich.; sister, Irene Rusin and her husband, John, of Florida; brother-in-law, Eugene Cataluffi, of West Pittston; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19 in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter. Relatives and friends are asked to go directly to the church. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Gubbiotti Funeral Home, 1030 Wyoming Ave., Exeter.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church, Exeter, or to Hospice Care of the VNA, 468 Northampton St., Edwardsville, PA 18704.
The family would like to take this time to express our gratitude for the compassion and heart warming care given to Henry and to us also. Everyone from Hospice Care of the VNA deserves so much praise!!
