Jacob Eicher Obituary

DORRANCE TWP. — Jacob J. Eicher, 65, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2014, with his wife by his side.

A life-long resident of Dorrance Township, Jake was a son of the late George J. and Josephine (Yanulevius) Eicher Sr.

He was a member of St. Mary Church, Dorrance.

Jake was a graduate of Penn State University, with a degree in mechanical engineering.

He enjoyed collecting Lionel Trains, Mr. Peanut memorabilia, hunting and fishing. Jake was also a Civil War history buff and a volunteer for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Wentworth Associates of Scranton and Underwater Screening Service.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, the former Susan Hilenski.

A loving husband, a gentile man with a kind heart and dry sense of humor, Jake will be sorely missed by those who he loved and spent time with including his extended families in the Amish community.

Honoring Jake's wishes, services will be private.

May flights of angels guide him to his rest.

Dear Cousin Jake,
I remember good things about you, and I always will. You had a good heart and a fun laugh. When I was a kid, I never saw you without a hat, which was cool. Tell my dear Aunt Josie, and my beloved Godfather, Uncle George, that I love them and miss them. Don't forget Auntie Helen, either. Rest easy.
Dear Sue,
Please accept my sincere condolences.

To Jake's wife I wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss..I worked with Jake @ Underwater Screening Serv...
He'd come up to our warehouse and we'd measure parts together so he could do our drawings.Jake was such a amazing guy...You could tell by just looking at him that he was kind hearted...I enjoyed so much talking with him....I believe that we will be with all of our loved ones one day..I'm going to miss seeing Jake and talking with him..To his wife,I could only imagine what your going thru...Jake knew his job,I learned from him things I didn't know about drafting and doing prints...He was always willing to show and teach what he knew...Basically,he was a awesome Guy..I know he's going to be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.My beliefs is...That after we pass on,our life isn't over..Our spirit lives on for eternity...So get to know Jesus and get him in your heart and life....
Sincerely
Mike

Sue,
I am so very sorry to hear of Jakes passing. Friends for a very long time, I will never forget all the wonderful days we spent together: trips to the "Green Dragon", dinner at each others homes, your wonderful parties, Christmases spent together, and a multitude of other things. He was one of the kindest men I've ever known, willing to help anyone that needed his help. I love you both, and hope that God in his infinite wisdom and mercy will bestow peace upon you at this very sorrowful time. My prayers are with you now, and always.
