Jacob Specht Obituary
Born in Wilkes-Barre, Jacob was the son of Philip and Michelle Traver Specht, Kingston Township, and the late Miranda Masonis Specht.
An eighth-grade student at the Dallas Middle School, Jacob was active with the concert band, playing the trombone. He was involved in track and cross-country running. He especially enjoyed running and was very enthusiastic about the sport.
Jacob was a wonderful big brother to his four younger brothers.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his mother, were maternal grandparents, Edward and Mary Masonis.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are brothers, Joshua, Chase, Noah and Philip Specht Jr., all at home; paternal grandparents, William and Angela Specht, Ocala, Fla.; grandparents, Richard and Christine Traver, Tunkhannock; great-grandparents, Peter and Mary Ann Brozusky, Tunkhannock; great-grandfather, Richard Traver, Bloomsburg; great-grandmother, Mildred Race, Dallas; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and many friends.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
The Specht family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund honoring Jacob has been established through the P & G Federal Credit Union. Contributions can be made at P & G Federal Credit Union, Country Club Plaza, Dallas, PA 18612 or at any other P & G Federal Credit Union branch.

Jacob, our family still speaks about you but I guess you hear us, my Riley especially. Your passing really impacted her heart. Dear Phil and family,
I will always remember Jacob as a young boy who stopped to visit my Mom while she was sitting on the front porch. He and Joshua had so much fun tossing the walnuts from our tree into a bucket and then dumping them out and starting all over again. My heart aches for your loss. God Bless all of you as you deal with his sudden passing.

Jacob was a very happy energetic person and I knew him for a long time. Jacob and I were in Aquatics Club together. He will always remain in my thoughts and memories. My prayers are with your family.

Thinking of Jacob, I wrote this poem:
"We're running on the track of life.
The farthest long-distance run.
Sometimes a bitter strife,
And others, endless fun.
Some people's races end too soon,
While the others run on.
Their parting seems so inopportune,
And we don't want them to be gone.
But their race is to be continued elsewhere,
Where the runner looks down, watching his fans.

I never had the privilege to know Jacob personally, but he will be missed at Dallas. To the family, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I don't think I could ever believe that he's truly gone. He was always so nice and happy. He could never sit still. He was a lot of fun and I'm going to miss him, and so will everyone else.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there are no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, which he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead for you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,

I did not know Jacob as well as his friends did... But I met once or twice. And I could only say great things about him. He was the best distance runner on the Dallas track team. Jacob will be greatly missed and loved truly. But heaven gained an angel today.. I'm sorry for your loss
