James E. Snell, 94, of Luzerne, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025.
James was born in Kingston on June 17, 1931, son of the late George and Pauline Donley Snell.
Jim was a graduate of Luzerne High School, Class of 1948. After graduation, James joined the U.S. Army and proudly served our nation during the Korean Conflict.
Upon returning state side, James began his career with Bendix Corporation as a machinist working on numerous projects for our nation's various space programs until his retirement in 1993.
Jim always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially looked forward to celebrating special occasions and holidays. He was also a proud member of the American Legion Post 644.
James is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia O'Boyle Snell, of Kingston; his son James Snell Jr., of Florida; and his daughter, Rosemary West, of Dingmans Ferry.
James is survived by his stepson, David P. Snell, of White Haven; daughter-in-law, Karen Snell Wood and her husband Gary Wood, of Mountain Top; stepdaughter, Deborah Snell Laub and her husband Mark Laub, of Northampton; grandson, Bradley Snell and his wife Jacquelyn Snell, of Summerville S.C.; his granddaughter, Brittany Snell Moser and her husband George Moser, of Dallas; in addition to five beautiful and cherished great-grandchildren.
Family services will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home directly following calling hours at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Legion Post 644 in Swoyersville.
