Jean Alesson, 86 of Plains Township, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 21, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in the Hilldale section of Plains, she was the daughter of the late Geremiah and Lena (Grilli) Palmaioli.
Jean was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School. Upon graduation she became the office manager of Franconi Auto Parts in Kingston. She then became a loving devoted mom and wife raising her two children. When her children were in high school, she returned to the workforce as the Office Manager of Pio Wines. She did this until her retirement. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains for many years. And most recently a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Swoyersville. She was a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and the Raymont Club.
Jean was as an avid shopper. She was well known as a welcoming and kind woman who loved her family very much. She enjoyed sharing a brandy Manhattan on occasion at various charity functions and in the comfort of close friends and family. She will be missed greatly by family and friends. Her ability to tell stories and share her laughter could brighten up any occasion.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Alesson on January 30, 1996, brothers Primo and Geremiah Palmaioli, and her sister Lorraine R. McCormick. Her dear friend Rita Wysocki also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her daughter, Tami Alesson and her son in law, Christopher Nass, Clifton N.J., her son Jeff Alesson and his wife Lori, Exeter, the light of her life, her granddaughter Christina Alesson, her aunt Emma Esopi, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses from the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, her family doctor, Elizabeth Gernhardt D.O., caregivers Nina and Jackie, Father Joe Pisaneschi, her loving neighbor and friend Pattie Pace and many others who shared the journey with Jean.
Funeral services were private and held at the convenience of the family from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main St., Plains, PA 18705.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Joseph's Center Maternity and Family Service, Adoption Department, 2010 Adams Avenue Scranton, PA 18509.
