Jean (Sodrosky) Van Scoy, 70, of Kingston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born June 20, 1955, she was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School and East Stroudsburg University.
Early in life, Jean owned her own business, Ribbons and Roses, and later worked as the bookstore manager at Wyoming Seminary, where she was known for her exceptional eye for design and presentation. She found joy in gardening — especially her beloved hydrangeas and irises — and loved discovering and trying new recipes.
She leaves behind her son, Brian, daughter-in-law, Kate Van Scoy, and granddaughter, Quinn, of Philadelphia; daughter, Jordan Mendygral; and grandsons, Tyler and Grayson, of Clayton, N.C. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret, and brother-in-law, Wesley Stelevich, of Dallas.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret, and by her brother, Leonard Sodrosky.
A celebration of her life will be held in the spring, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Ronald McDonald House.

Jean was quick witted, highly motivated and meticulous to detail. We worked for many years together at Wyoming Seminary and remained friends through the years. The "bookstore lady" is now at peace. I send condolences to the family.
