FORTY FORT — John Gildea, of Forty Fort, passed away on Dec. 14, 2021.
John was the eldest son of Jack and Thelma Gregory Gildea, of Dallas. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, Kingston and Bloomsburg State College where he was a member of Phi Sigma Pi and Sigma Tau Delta National Honor Societies.
John was a career employee of the Social Security Administration, during which time he served on the staff of four Area Directors and as Manager of the Bloomsburg Social Security Office. He retired as an Area Systems Coordinator and also held positions in the Wilkes-Barre, Pittston, Hazleton and Harrisburg Offices.
He was a Past President of the Forty Fort Lions Club. He was also a licensed youth soccer coach, having served for many years as coach for the Forty Fort Youth Soccer Association (Pioneers).
John is survived by his true love and wife, the former Debra Smith; sons, Shaun Gildea and wife, Erika Seberhagen, of Silver Spring, Md., Brian Gildea and fiancée, Shannon Conway, of Kingston, and Kyle Gildea and companion, Melaura Homan-Smith, of Chevy Chase, Md.; and granddaughter, Fiona Rose Gildea, of Silver Spring, Md.; as well as, many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service and visitation will be held at a time to be announced. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc., Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Medical Oncology Associates Prescription Assistance Fund, 382 Pierce St., Kingston, PA 18704, 570-288-4261.
