He previously served as a member of the board of directors of the Housing Authority of Luzerne County. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants football team. I Know how difficult all this has been on you. I cannot figure out what the good lord wants with John at such a young age, but my quess is it must be important. My heart has a massive hole in it not only because of the loss of my best friend, but because I know how his loss is affecting all of you. I love you all and just keep believing there must be a reason we are not capable of understanding.

Joanne, Joey and Amanda:

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. I worked with him at Community Medical Center. He played an instrumental role in promoting my position in the organization. I will never forget how he treated all the employees and his good humor. I often remember how fondly he spoke of all of you and how family oriented he was.

My husband and I saw John and Joanne right before you moved to Kentucy at the home of John and Nancy Rafferty here in Old Forge. Jimmy and John were guests at your home in Kentucy when they came out for a Penn State football game.

Please take care as he would want all of you to be okay.

Sincerely,

Jimmy and Cathy (Monahan) Serino

My thoughts and prayers are with the Mashinski family. John was my instructor in the graduate program at Misericordia University 20 years ago. I had him for several classes in the early 1990's. We had great times in John's class and learned a great deal about administration and mostly about life. However, the thing I remember most about John was his caring personality and his great sense of humor. John made a dreaded graduate program enjoyable and I looked forward to spending time in his classes each week. I will never forget John and the positive impact that he had on my life and career as I am now a teacher myself. You are such a lucky family to have had John as a father/husband. God bless your family. I will keep your family im my prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I met John 30 plus years ago when we were both new HR Leaders in the Pocono's. Over the years we have stayed in touch, discussing HR Issues and challenges. We also had many laughs. John was a wonderful mentor and a great friend. I will miss talking to him. With deepest sympathy.

I met John 30 years ago and I instantly liked him. When I first started dating Michelle, John went out of his way to make me feel welcome and we developed a great friendship over the years that very few people experience. John was a great family man. He loved spending time with his family, including his nephews and nieces, who were particularly fond of him. John had a great sense of humor and loved getting together with friends and family on holidays. He looked forward to these events and cherished every minute together with the people he loved. I feel blessed to have had such a good friend as a brother-in-law.

Dear Joanne Joey and Amanda
The Cambria Family extends our deepest heartfelt sympathy and sadness over John's sudden and unexpected passing. The kindness and sense of loyal and genuine friendship that John gave freely to all who had the pleasure to know him will forever be imprinted in our memories of him. He was a good man and always spoke so lovingly of his family and especially the pride he had in his children. He always had a joke handy to bring a smile to his friends and never hesitated to share his knowledge and professional experience with us at AHEDD. I will miss him dearly as he was my friend; one that I didn't have to see to know that he was always there if I needed him. God speed him on his journey home to the Father.
