October 23, 2009

Joseph Leonard "Mud" Domanski, of Sugar Notch, passed away early Friday morning at Hospice Community Care, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, after losing a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Wilkes-Barre on October 20, 1964. He was a son of Leonard J. Domanski and the late Margaret E. (Richards) Domanski. Joey was employed as a roofer for Pinnacle Roofing and Sheet Metal Inc. for 15 years. He was an avid Steelers fan, hunter, fisherman and avid all-around outdoorsman. He was a member of the Ashley Trout Stocking Association, Sons of the American Legion Post 673 and a social member of the Catholic War Vets, Post 274, and the Wilkes-Barre Republic Club. He was preceded in death by his brother, Merle "Butch" Schafer. Joey was a very loving brother to his sisters, Margaret McKeown, Helen Wheeler and brother-in-law, Patrick Krasucki; a loving uncle to Gilbert Wheeler Jr., Kevin Wheeler, Shawn McKeown, Brian Bath, Kelly Rhodes and Amie Osburn. Joe leaves behind his loving fiancée, Diane "Dee" Flannery. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. A blessing service for Joseph will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 North Main Street, Ashley, with the Rev. Thomas O'Malley officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and again on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to "the Joe Domanski Recovery Fund" at Choice One Federal Credit Union, 101 Hazle Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.

SAFELY HOME
Author Unknown

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this ever lasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus'arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth--
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Lenny, Helen, Margaret and kids.. My prayers are with you always. And know I am always near. I will never forget Joey's smile nor the good times that we shared!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
