Joseph Rossick

Mr. Joseph A. Rossick, of Hillside Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born March 24, 1928, in Edwardsville, he was a son of the late George and Anna Jorda Rossick
Joe attended Edwardsville High School and was employed many years at Diamond Vending Service, Wilkes-Barre. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was member of Holy Rosary Church, Ashley, and its Holy Name Society.
During Lent, “Pierogie Joe” would delight all who came with some “good, old-country cooking” of Eastern Europe. He was also featured on WNEP’s “Home and Garden Show” for his cooking. In retirement, he was the master chef at Rossick’s Deli, Mountain Top.
He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph, in 1991; and a brother, William.
Jo Jo will be sadly missed by his wife, the former Phyllis Ferrence, with whom he was married to for 56 years on July 8, 2006. Also surviving is are son James and his wife, Patricia, Mountain Top; grandchildren James T, Erin and Sean Rossick; one great-granddaughter; brothers Michael and his wife, Agnes, Edwardsville; John and his wife, Evelyn, East Haven, Conn.; George and his wife, Mary, New Brighton, Pa.; and brother-in-law Michael Ferrence and his wife, Maryann, Plains.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.
Friends may call Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 North Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to V.I.S.I.O.N. or a charity of the donor’s choice.
