Julia Borkowski Obituary

January 18, 2011

Julia R. (Piscotty) Borkowski, 99, of Plymouth, passed into the hands of the Lord surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at the Hospice Community Care, Inpatient Unit of Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. Born January 16, 1912, in Plymouth, she was a daughter of the late John and Hedwig Kowatz Piscotty. Julia attended Plymouth Borough schools and was a member of All Saints Parish of Plymouth. Prior to her marriage, she had been employed by Mr. and Mrs. Mitch Plessett of Plymouth. She was later employed for many years at R&K Dress Co., Plymouth, as a seamstress. She was a member of the ILGWU and the Little Women's Club of Plymouth. Julia made beautiful crocheted dollies and snowflakes, which she gave to family and friends. She enjoyed knitting and was an excellent seamstress. Julia greatly enjoyed gardening. Her flowers and azalea bushes were her pride and joy in her yard. She loved to cook and spent many hours in her kitchen making pierogies, apple pies, raspberry jelly, and her favorite, Spanish Sauce. Julia loved writing cards and letters to family and friends, always remembering a birthday, anniversary and all special occasions. She would check her mailbox daily, hoping to receive news from them in return. Everyone loved the wonderful stories that she would tell. She spent many hours playing cards with her family and had a great fondness for her animals. She deeply missed her beloved pets, Rusty and King. Julia had a deep love for God and instilled this faith in her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will remain forever in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; brothers, Zigmund, Stanley and infant Adam Piscotty; and sisters, Nellie Hopkins, Marie Warnett, Jennie Ceasar and Dorothy Wysocki. Surviving are her loving daughters, Maureen Elick and her husband, Carl, of Laurel Run, and Rosalie Fritzen and her husband, Jeffrey Sr., of Shavertown; grandchildren, Jeffrey Fritzen Jr. and his wife, Jennifer; Janeen Shuleski and her husband, Richard; and Michael Fritzen and his wife, Mindy; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Joseph and Nicholas Fritzen; sisters, Lottie Kmush of Plymouth, and Rose Karolchyk and her husband, Carl, of Michigan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in All Saints Parish, Plymouth. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Plymouth Public Library, 107 W. Main St., Plymouth, PA 18651, (570) 779-4775, and the Luzerne County SPCA, 524 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702-6991, (570) 825-4111. The family wishes to especially thank all the nurses and staff, true angels of Mercy, of Hospice Community Care, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, for the most compassionate care they gave to Julia in her journey to her heavenly home. Ironically--I just happened to be browsing the news. I am Bobby Borkowski, originally from Nanticoke. ([email protected]) Amazing---I had an aunt Julia Borkowski from Nanticoke---she would have been about 99!!! (passed away years ago). I also had an uncle Leo Borkowski!!!! My father was Joseph Borkowski who also would have been 99 this year!!!! He was a member of St Mary's parrish in Plymouth!!! Both he and my mom were at Grontkowski Funeral home also!!! They are buried at St Mary's Cemetary also!!!!! My God---a large planet--but a small world!!! Any of you may email me if you have any comment. My condolences---Bob Borkowski.

Don't cry for me ,
now that I am free.

Just look around anywhere,
and that is where I'll be.

For I am the daylight ,
when the sun starts to rise.

I'm the bright rainbow,
you see with your eyes.

I'm the tiny raindrops,
that sprinkle in the wind.

I'll always be here with you,
for there really is no end. I'm the dew that's on the ground,
and the quietness all around.

Yes, I am so very happy,
with this new life I have found.

I'm the peaceful summer breeze,
that flows softly through the trees.

I'm the bluebird in the sky,
that sings with such ease.

Yes, I am so very happy,
so happy to be free.

Understand my family and friends
and don't you cry for me.
