Kim Shemanski, 67, of Wilkes Barre, passed away peacefully at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center on the evening of Jan. 23, 2025.
Kim was born Jan. 18, 1958 the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Hopple) Kosak Sr. of Wilkes Barre.
Kim attended Coughlin High School and later worked to run the business at her family's diner, formerly known as "The Best Diner"; located on Blackman St., Wilkes Barre.
Kim was a devoted mother who put motherhood above everything else. She was her family's "rock" and a beloved soul who touched many lives. Kim always took care of people. Everyone always knew that her door was open with a hot plate on the stove to anyone in need. Kim was selfless, always putting others before herself. Her most enjoyment was taking her children and grandchildren to family outings, the beach, and amusement parks. She loved to go on picnics and acquired the nickname "Picnic Kimmy". She will live on in the hearts of all those who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she left behind and the love and memories will never die.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 46 years, William C. Shemanski Sr. in October, 2024, beloved son, William Shemanski Jr., in 2011, infant son, Jeffrey in 1983, brother, Walter Kosak Jr.
Surviving are her sons, Nevin Shemanski Sr. and his wife, Leniea, Matthew Shemanski and Zebony Shemanski, daughters, Shalynn Shemanski, Alison Shonk and her husband, Travis, 2 grandchildren, Nevin Shemanski Jr. and David Shemanski, sisters, Kathy Austin, Lisa Petillo and Heather Balhmann. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025 from 1o to 11 a.m. at the Maple Hill Cemetery Chapel, 68 E. St. Mary's Road, Hanover Twp. Prayer services will begin at 11 a.m. to noon with Pastors Kevin Straka and Dominick Petillo officiating. Interment to follow in the cemetery.
Arrangements are by the George A Strish, Inc. Funeral Home, 105 North Main St., Ashley.
