PLAINS TWP. — Mary I. Barbacci, 100, of Plains Township, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, Oct. 30, 2018, at her home.
Born in Plains Township, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Parlanti) Pellegrini.
Mary attended township schools and was owner/operator along with her husband, Armando "Herman" Barbacci, of the Plains Poultry Market and the Plains Delicatessen for 45 years.
She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains Township, and its Altar and Rosary Society until its closure and merger with Ss. Peter & Paul Church. She was also a charter member of the Rotary Ann's. In June of this year, Mary was honored with a 100th birthday celebration by her family, with many friends and family in attendance.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Armando "Herman" Barbacci, on April 19, 1982; brothers Louis "Hook" Pellegrini and Roland Pellegrini; and sister Vera Ostroski.
Surviving are her daughters, Norma Nardone, of Plains Township, and Vivian Greenberg Fidrych, of Palm Harbor, Fla.; son Joseph Barbacci and his wife, Rosemary, of Monroeville, Pa., and Naples, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Joseph Pellegrini, of Pittston; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, from the Corcoran Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Ss. Peter & Paul Church, 13 Hudson Rd., Plains Township, with Father John C. Lambert, pastor, officiating. Entombment will be held in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Family and friends may call 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
