I and my daughter was fortunate to be one of Miss Shields students at Lehman. She energy was warm and giving. I will never forget her smile, sense of humor and the lessons that she taught me. I am truly sorry for such a loss for your family and to all the people whose lives she touched throughout her time with us.

To the Shields Family,
It was my pleasure to have taught with MB at Lake-Lehman. Her knowledge of the written and spoken word is legendary. She was a dynamo, a role model and friend. Her final chapter was one of courage and strength--what a compliment to your family. May her memory live on like the books she so loved.
Peace to you MB,

My dearest MB....
In my heart, you will always live just as the memories of you are loaded with fun and laughter. I am so glad you are out of PAIN and enjoying all that heaven has to offer.....I'm so sorry I was out of town when you passed, but I know that's what you would have wanted. TO PASS IN PEACE and for everyone to keep the memories of you ALIVE intact. You are one of the best teachers ever. LIVE LIFE, I learned that so well from you, mi amiga.

MB captured the spirit of true champion. I will always be inspired by her relentless fight, her courage and her will to live life to the fullest. Her journey taught that each day counts in the finite time we are awarded. And isn't that the greatest lesson an educator could provide?
On behalf of LLHS Class of '89 and hundreds of other young lives that you touched, we thank you and we love you.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

To The Family of MS.Shields,
You will always be known as one of my favorite teachers. I had a crush on you during my junior and senior years in high school. The times spent in the back room of the audio/visual lab and your back office just talking about life will always be remembered. You have always been a well-respected professional and a teacher who made a difference in more than one life....
That alone is worth remembering...Heaven was in need of another angel to help preserve the peace up there....I can't believe this has happened less than one month of my own dad's passing... I'm only 36 years old and feel like I'm about 80 right now so if any blessings might come down from above, they would be greatly appreciated...God Bless You...Rest In Peace..
Your Student Always,
Michael Andrusis
