DALLAS — Mary Ann Walsh, 84, of Dallas, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Elizabeth (McLaughlin) Ackerman. Mary Ann was a graduate of Lourdes Academy, Cleveland, Ohio.
Unwavering in her Catholic faith, she joyfully served with the Mercy Association of the Sisters of Mercy, and was a member of the prayer and Eucharistic ministry of St. Therese's Church, Shavertown.
Mary Ann enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, crafting, listening to music, and loved traveling with ("the girls"), her longtime childhood friends. Mary Ann was especially proud of her Irish heritage.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and lived for practical jokes with her neighbors and long-time friends. She had an infectious laugh and beautiful smile, and had a genuine love and concern for people. Mary Ann loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending sporting events, recitals and many family meals.
Mary Ann touched many lives as she traveled through her life. She was a humble and selfless soul, always there to help those in need. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her. "I lived a good life."
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by Miss Barbara; brother, Patrick Ackerman; son, Daniel Francis; and life-long friend, Maureen Richissin.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Paul, Dallas; children: Mary Ann Maxfield, Dallas; Paul, Jr. (Becky) Walsh, Dallas; Kathleen (Frank) DiPino, Huntington Mills; James Walsh, Sicily; Joseph (Stefanie) Walsh, Scottdale; Eileen Walsh, Shavertown; grandchildren: Christopher and Erin Belles, Mathew and Meghan Maxfield, Danielle, Caitlin, and Molly Walsh, Angelina DiPino , Kirsten Larimer, and Jeremy Walsh ; great-granddaughter: Norah Ophelia DeCock; brother, Raymond Ackerman; and her dog, Murphy (to whom she always snuck treats).
Special thanks to: Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Geisinger Cancer Institute and its caring and compassionate staff, Father Jim Paisley, of St. Therese's Parish, for administering the anointing of the sick, and singing a much appreciated song, and for all of our caring and kind neighbors and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Therese's Church, 64 Davis St., Shavertown. The Rev. James Paisley will serve as officiant.

I loved Mary Ann from the moment I met her at Mercy Center as she was a companion with one of her friends
I often read stories to the residents and she always participated whether she made sounds like an animal or a acted out one of the characters from the story
She was a fun loving person
She certainly lived a good life. Let´s pray we can say the same thing when our God calls us home
