Mary Wascavage Obituary
Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary Kisling Dzurisin. She was a graduate of Duryea High School. She was a member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Church, Pittston. She was the first communion teacher, cantor, choir member and a daily communicate until her illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael F. Wascavage Sr., who passed away on Sept. 15, 1988; three brothers, John and Joseph Dzurisin and Msgr. George Durisin.
Surviving are sons, Michael Wascavage Jr. and his wife, Maureen of Plains Township, Joseph Wascavage Sr. and his wife, Sally, of Kingston, Paul Wascavage and his wife, Diane, of Wilkes-Barre, George Wascavage and his wife Patricia, Mountain Top; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Dzurisin and his wife, Dororthy, Swoyersville; sisters, Sister Paula Dzurisin OSBM of Uniontown, Sister Philip Dzurisin OSBM of Uniontown; nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home, Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea, with a Mass of the Divine Liturgy at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston, with the Rev. G. Scott Bogohossian.
Interment will be in Parish Cemetery, Pittston. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. The Parastas Service will be held Sunday at 7 p.m.

Remembering your MOM today and (your family over the years )as a neighbor and a St. Michael's Church member. The years your mom and i attended daily liturgy together as she cantered and the social events at the church were an enjoyable time.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Your Mom, our Aunt Mary was great to us as we grew up all together. One of my favorite memories was how we would all get together as children and feast around the table no matter how many of us were there.
