Michael and I first crossed paths many years ago, around 1981, as martial arts students at "Newman´s House of Bushido." We quickly formed a deep bond, with Michael becoming the older brother I never had. On the surface, we were quite different-me, the studious and academic type, and him, the street-smart, worldly guy who seemed to have a knack for handling anything life threw his way. Yet, despite our differences, something just clicked between us, and our friendship took off.
There was rarely a day when we didn´t meet on the training floor, often followed by time spent at the diner or simply hanging out together. Michael also led our four-man crew, which became known as the "Rat Pack." In our troupe of traveling instructors, he provided the adult supervision that looking back now, I´m sure we needed.
We often embarked on countless late-night adventures, and through it all, Michael always had my back. He encouraged me, treated me with unwavering respect, and exemplified what it means to be a true friend-asking nothing in return but friendship itself. One of my most cherished possessions is a small St. Michael´s medal he gave me as I left for the Army. He explained that St. Michael was the patron saint of Airborne and Air Assault. Michael was Airborne, and I was Air Assault. To me, that medal has always symbolized his watchful presence over me, and I´ve worn it every day since.
As I look at the tributes posted and the pictures of his family, it does my heart good to know how well-loved he was by all who knew him. Michael touched many lives, including mine, in ways that will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, my dear friend and brother. You will always be in my heart.

Dear Rose and family, my deepest condolences for your loss.
I knew Michael for forty two years. We worked together, went fishing together and we both served our nation in the United States Army.
Michael loved his family. He was the perfect role model. Michael had values. GOD, Country, Family, and HONOR. He would always do the right thing. He had both STRENGTH and COURAGE. Michael will be sadly missed by so many.
Michael thank you for your service.
Thank you for our freedom.
WELCOME HOME

Michael came to me over forty years ago as a Martial Arts Student. I had no idea at the time what an impact he would have not only on my life but on the lives of so many others as well. His military background provided him with incredible discipline and he evolved into an exceptional student, disciple and friend. He lived with us for quite some time and was the mature, older brother to the members of the "Rat Pack." He was always there for any students who were struggling. He was one of the most caring, compassionate and fiercely loyal people I have ever known. Our lives were much richer because he shared his with us.
His passing has effected the lives of so many people, and he will be missed. God has called one of His Warriors to Him.
Our love, respect and best wishes God out to his family. God Bless and keep you, Chai-tsun. Requiescat in Pace.
