Michael F. Kaschak, 90, of Larksville, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Celtic Health Care, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
He was born in Czechoslovakia on March 26, 1922, and came to America at the age of 7. He was the son of the late Michael and Meri Stoyak Kaschak.
He was a M.P. Corporal U.S. Army/Air Force veteran of World War II.
He was employed by the Hudson Coal Company, Larksville, and he was also employed by General Motors in Linden, N.J.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Larksville, and a member of the American Legion Post 655, Larksville.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Anne Kaschak, and sister, Mary Lukashewski.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Rita Rish Kaschak, at home; his daughters, Nancy Rising and her husband, James, Dallas; Patricia Fedock and her husband, Michael, Shavertown; three grandchildren, James Rising and his wife, Melissa; Shalousie Rising-Ackerman and her husband, Alan; Robert Rising; and great-grandson, Haven Rising.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Military funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gerald Gurka officiating. Interment will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Lehman. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. Friday, from 9 to 10 am.
