Raymond Samolis, 99, of Mountain Top, passed away Thursday at the Embassy at East Mountain in Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Joseph and Constance Samolis. Raymond served in the U.S. Army and worked as a mechanic prior to retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post #781 for 79 years.
Preceding him in death, in addition to to his parents, were his sisters, Dolores and Kate, and a brother, Casimer.
Surviving is his nephew, Leonard Biel, of Mountain Top.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday from the McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
