Richard Earl "Dick" Maurer, 88, passed away Oct. 24, 2025.
Born in Wilkes-Barre to Earl W. and Jessie Louise Maurer, he graduated from Wyoming Seminary. He continued to Washington & Jefferson University and Wilkes College. When his father developed cancer, he became a salesman for Rohrbach Hardware. He met Sarah "Jane" Davis, who became his loving wife and best friend for 62 years until her passing on Dec. 2, 2022. Together, they owned and operated Rohrbach Hardware and several other businesses for over 40 years. Dick was a member of the Masons, Scranton Rotary, the Deutsch Institute, and an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Jenny Collins and husband Todd, and Wendy Cominsky; three cherished grandchildren, Andrew Collins, Amanda Collins, and Sarah Cominsky. He is also survived by Jane's sister, Margaret Ochman, and husband Paul; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. His interment will be held privately at Newton Cemetery, where he will be buried next to his wife and infant son, Richard Charles Maurer.
Please join us for a celebration of a life well lived at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, in the First Presbyterian Church, 300 School St., Clarks Summit, Pa. Donations may be made to the church in lieu of flowers.
The family would like to thank the friends, past and present, who loved our parents and enjoyed time with them at "807." From Dad's notebook, "With God, all things are possible."
