Richard Trudnak Obituary

Richard J. “Rip” Trudnak, 59, of E. Union St., Shickshinny, died Thursday, August 11, 2005, in General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Born Feb. 23, 1946, in Danville, he was a son of the late John A. and Helen R. (Tearpock) Trudnak.
He was a graduate of the former Newport High School, Wanamie, and of Mansfield University. He retired from the Pennsylvania State Police after 25 years of service. He was a member of Ascension Church, Mocanaqua. He was also a member of the Twin Cities Lions Club of Shickshinny and Mocanaqua, the Shickshinny Area Business Association, the Rails to Trails Committee, and various ski clubs. He was currently serving as a Shickshinny borough councilman.
Surviving are a son, Richard J. Trudnak, Jr., Shickshinny; a daughter, Jennifer Selner and her husband, Joseph, Nanticoke; a grandson, Jason R. Selner; a brother, David Trudnak and his wife, Louise, Waldorf, Md.; a sister, Elizabeth Carey and her husband, Leo, Glen Dale, Md.; a nephew, Michael Carey; a niece, Stephanie Carey; and a significant other, “Miss Hoser.”
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Mayo Funeral Home, 77 N. Main St., Shickshinny, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in Ascension Church, Mocanaqua, with his pastor, Rev. Joseph Kakareka, as celebrant. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 15, 2005, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations for the Shickshinny Playground Association may be made to the Richard Trudnak Memorial Fund, c/o Wachovia Bank, 2 W. Union St., Shickshinny, PA, 18655.
